A Tribute to "Sir Percival"
1981- April 22, 1996
"Sir Percival"
(the largest and kindest of King Arthur's fabled knights) was my
Percheron/Thoroughbred cross. He was a gentle giant, allowing small children to ride
bareback and without a bridle. He would stand without crossties, and would load
himself in and out of trailers. He was also a competitor in dressage with me, helping
me to learn patience and discipline. He helped me earn the year end Novice Rider
award for the Midwest Dressage Association in 1991; as well as Year-End  Reserve
Champion First Level in 1995. He was sweet and willing, and was a great cross
country jumper, sending his 18 plus hands over fences amazingly nimbly. I am
extraordinarily grateful for having shared my life with him. I still miss Percy today.

It is my great honor for my Percy portrait to have been awarded the very highest
honors: Grand Champion Workmanship Greys; as well as a Top Ten Breed Award,
both at the North American Nationals,

Update: Percy also received his Superior Event Horse awarded in August, 2008.
