Pamela Hatcher Loud 1944-2009
|

I met Pam Loud through the model horses. I did several commission pieces
for her, and she and I became good friends. Pam and I shared many interests
including horses, cats, horticulture, and equine art to name a but a few
things. I flew to North Carolina to spend time with Pam and Patti Reggio
several times over the past few years. They were wonderful hosts, I felt
immediately at home surrounded by the last of the gorgeous Maine Coon cats
of Pam's cattery, Hissinghurst.
Pam had Cortical Basal Ganglionic Degeneration, a rapidly-progressing nerve
degeneration disorder, but that did not curb her zest for life. Due to the rapid
onset of the CBGD, speaking became difficult for Pam, but she was still able
to communicate quite well. Her mobility became impaired, but this did not
stop Pam from getting out and about on a regular basis. She and I spent
many an afternoon driving around the Piedmont area, going to the huge
farmers' market, local boutiques, greenhouses, nurseries, and bakeries. Pam
passed away surrounded by her family on October 24th. I am not alone in
missing her, though her soul is now free.
Namaste, my friend.
